Service Technician

Job Summary 

Full time 

Position: Service Technician
Reports to: Service Manager
Department: Service
Locations: Multiple
Revision Date: January  2020

The Service Technician is responsible for service, installation and support of Holzher equipment for the furniture, cabinet, millwork and lumber industries the assigned region.

Primary Areas of Responsibilities 

  • Responds to customers in a pleasant, professional and timely manner
  • Maintains / develops rapport with customers by examining complaints; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; recommending system improvements
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper corrective actions
  • Document service and installation actions by completing work orders, parts forms, and inspection reports.
  • Ensure these reports are returned promptly for processing
  • Instruct and provide training to customers and colleagues on proper use regarding applications, operation and maintenance, hardware failures, software and programming
  • Assist customers to achieve optimum efficiency and machine reliability
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional industry publications
  • Increase the value of the service call by seeking to apply additional service or parts where possible
  • Development of Holzher Canada’s service business
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Education, Experience, Skill and Requirements

  • Mechanical, electrical/electronics skills with industrial/capital equipment
  • Experience with computers, pneumatic and hydraulics
  • Drive systems, PLC, programming logic
  • Experience in the woodworking industry a plus
  • Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver abstract
  • Provide a reliable vehicle for business use appropriate of a service technician
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and processes, and work effectively under pressure
  • Proficient with computers (Microsoft Office and Windows, CAD/CAM software)
  • Ability to take direction and offer positive feedback
  • Standard hand tools required
  • Lift and carry weights of 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to work on all components of equipment, above, below or around
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions combined with the ability to work as part of a team and share information
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong time management and organization skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Valid Passport for out of country travel

Working Conditions

  • Possibility of exposure to flammable substances, Dust particulate, load noise
  • Work “on call” or outside of regular hours if required
  • Long periods of, sitting, standing, crouching, lifting and bending 
  • Travel on short notice and for extended periods may be required

  • Wear PPE as required

This position is Safety Sensitive and requires compliance with Weinig Holzher Canada’s Drug and Alcohol Policy.
