What can small shops with minimum space do to prevent being overtaken in terms of production technology? At the Mähr Carpentry Shop the answer points in the vertical direction and makes it clear: Even the smallest workshops offer space for CNC

It is well know that contemporary craftsmanship is particularly pronounced in the Vorarlberg Region of Austria. With the slogan “The nature of craftsmanship”, the Mähr Carpentry Shop fits well into this picture. The congenial brothers Wolfgang and Christoph Mähr told us: “We are as innovative as possible in keeping up with the manifold challenges of the time.”

“Actually we wanted to purchase a new drill”, commented the two brothers in unison with regard to their decision-making process. Step for step we began to focus on CNC technology. Christoph Mähr glances into the workshop: “But a horizontal CNC machine was unthinkable, because, we simply do not have the space.“ The current developments in the field of vertical CNC machining centers provided the perfect solution to their investment considerations: The compact dimensions and the versatile, CNC-controlled machining capabilities offered by the new vertical machines are perfect for shops with limited space.

The decision to buy the Evolution 7405 4mat from HOLZ-HER was justified in Feldkirch by a number of outstanding technical features. These include complete machining on all four edges of the work, the unique new vacuum clamping concept and the laser measurement feature for the work with automatic compensation of the edge thickness of work already edged. Contact to Bernhard Plattner, HOLZ-HER’s Regional Sales Manager, did the rest, stated Wolfgang Mähr: “We were well advised in every phase right up to inhouse training.“
